Don’t Consume Gluten

Don’t Snack

It’s not whether you snack, it’s how you snack. 

“Noshing throughout the day is key to blood sugar management,” says Smith. “When you don’t snack, you get hungry and make diet decisions you otherwise wouldn’t, which can hinder weight loss.” She recommends high-fiber and healthy fat snacks that keep you satiated, such as veggies and nuts. 

You Can’t Ever Eat Dessert

While consuming sugary foods all the time doesn’t help weight loss, it’s still possible to enjoy sweet treats. 

“Instead of eating cookies alone on the couch, take the time and effort to go to a coffee shop and enjoy one there with a cup of green tea,” recommends registered dietitian nutritionist Dawn Jackson Blatner, RDN. “This lowers the odds you’ll overeat and will help you think of sweets as a sometimes treat.”

Avoid Carbs 

Simple carbs are the problem, not complex carbs like lentils and brown rice. 

“Refined carbs digest quickly and spike blood sugar, boosting hunger, while fiber-rich complex carbs digest slowly and keep blood sugar levels steady, aiding weight loss,” notes Smith.
